New housing development in Milford will include more than 50 single-family homes

Monday, May 15, 2023

WARSAW, Ind. (May 15, 2023) – The Town of Milford, Milford Redevelopment Commission and the Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) today announced plans for the Eastfield housing development in Milford, which will deliver more than 50 single-family homes to the area.

“We’re excited to see the first project from the countywide housing strategy coming to our community,” said Doug Ruch, Milford Town Council President. “We’re filling a great need for both Milford and Kosciusko County as we continue to grow and thrive.”

The 20-acre parcel is located off 1250 N (Syracuse St) in Milford, adjacent to the North Park neighborhood. Development will be led by Goshen-based Miller Brothers Builders, and will include 52 single-family units.

“We are pleased to be able to help provide quality housing for the surrounding community of Milford. With our rich history and 60 plus years of experience we believe that our Journey line of homes will provide adequate living space at an affordable price for families as they learn to call this home,” said Miller Brothers General Manager Titus Troyer.

The development will include both single and two-story units, with the majority being single story. Sizes will range from 1,200 to 1,700 square feet, and most units will include 3 bedrooms and 2 baths with two and three-car garage options. The first phase of homes is anticipated to be completed by December 2023.

The project started as part of an effort to bring more market-rate workforce housing to the community. A housing needs study and strategy commissioned by the City of Warsaw, Kosciusko County, the Kosciusko County Community Foundation (KCCF) in partnership with the Housing Resource Hub, showed market potential for more than 2,000 new residential units throughout the county by 2024. And data from the study highlighted a specific need for housing that reduces commuting from outside the county, with a goal of growing the local workforce.

“KEDCO was selected to lead implementation of the housing strategy and to come alongside communities to encourage development of additional workforce housing,” said KEDCO CEO Alan Tio. “We are working closely with partners throughout K-County to bring projects like this one together.”

The Town of Milford, Milford Redevelopment Commission, KEDCO, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and other community partners, gathered today for a groundbreaking ceremony to kick-off the development project.

“Whether you’re new to the community or exploring living here, returning home, or transitioning from renting to homeownership, we’re pleased to support this project which provides more housing options in rural areas of Kosciusko County,” Dan Brown, Milford Redevelopment President.
