“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” – Jim Watkins
How amazing to think that today is the 75th anniversary of the end of World War 2. It is difficult for me to think of another period of time that required such sustained and widespread persistence among everyone who lived through it.
I didn’t plan to write about something as significant as the end of World War 2 to highlight the power of persistence, but if you will forgive me for mixing two very different examples, I also want to draw attention to a local example of persistence involving the Warsaw Municipal Airport.
Local airport director Nick King and his team have developed and promoted an ambitious plan of capital improvements to maintain the airport’s important role supporting local employers that compete globally and succeed locally in K-County.
Within the span of less than 12-months, the airport has received commitments more than $1 million to rehabilitate the north/south runway and more than $6 million dollars to begin work that could lead to extension of the east/west runway.
These are powerful examples of persistence by city leadership and our congressional delegation to secure funding for projects that required many years of planning and that will have a positive impact on our community for decades to come. Congratulations to the everyone involved!
